For his deteriorated health because of hunger strike

Sidi M’hammed court adjourned, the day before yesterday, the case of the ex-director of the Khalifa Airways because of the poor health Mr Zarouk who is on hunger strike for 13 days in the prison of El Harrach, Algiers, with two ex-managers of the El Khalifa group.




The general ex-director of Khalifa Airways, who is under temporary custody for two years now, couldn’t stand, before yesterday, in Sidi M’hammed court, responding to the 5 billions cm bad cheque case that was raised by Hilton hotel administration against Khalifa Airways. Zarouk was transported, by an ambulance, from El Harrach prison to the court, than transported back to the prison after the judge concluded that the defendant cannot stand the hearing.

According to the family of Khalifa’s former executive family, signs of fatigue and poor health were obvious on the prisoner’s appearances. The prisoners’ families, who visited the newspaper main office yesterday morning, unveiled that they received information from the inside of the prison that confirm the poor health suffered by the prisoners.

In the afternoon of last Monday, the families of the three ex-managers of Khalifa Bank who are on hunger strike in El Harrach prison for 13 days now, met the prosecutor in charge of Khalifa case after being denied, by the prison administration, a meeting with their striker relatives, the move justified by the refusal of the strikers themselves to meet with them.

In the same context, the director of El Harrach prison refused, yesterday, to let these families to meet with their relatives, where, the families were received by the prison guards who oriented them to the general direction of prisons or the ministry of justice. In front of this situation, the prisoners’ families made a plea to the president of the republic to intervene and enable them to meet their imprisoned relatives after the consistent refusal of the prison director. Concordant sources told El Khabar that two of the hunger strikers were taken to the prison’s doctor in a deteriorated health.
