Some 45 foreign companies have shown interest to acquire a share in AT’s capital, disclosed the minister. Algerie Telecom privatization’s file has been sent to Government General Secretariat to be submitted to the Cabinet, the minister says, in a statement to al-Khabar, underlining that communication field in Algeria comes in second position after hydrocarbons. However, “capital opening does not aim at drawing investments, it is, rather, a way to gain experience, expertise and technology in terms of management, he explains. Algerian experience in this field is absolutely different from that of Tunisia and Morocco, Post and ICT Minister adds. The first country has sold 35% of Tunisie Telecom’s shares to Tecom-Did of Dubai Holding for 2.66 billion dollars, the second sold 51% of Maroc Telecom to the French Vivendi Universal for 2.5 billion dollars. Algerie Telecom has presently 3 million subscribers in fixed phone, 7.4 million in mobile phone and 1.5 as regard internet. Investments achieved in the field of telecommunication are estimated around 4 million dollars. They come as part of reform. In addition, Algerie Telecom has announced it intends to invest over 700 million euro. | ||||||||||||||||||
