Sonelgaz owes Tizi Ouzou more than 64 billion centimes

Sonelgaz regional manager in Tizi Ouzou province has disclosed that the bills which had been quashed because of 2001’s events had exceeded 100 billion centimes adding that Sonelgaz owes its clients in Tizi Ouzou more than 64 billion centimes.




Electricity consumption of Tizi Ouzou inhabitants had reached more than 140 billion centimes, which are the unpaid bills from August 2001-to January 2005. The depth had occurred after the former Chief of Government, Ahmed Ouyahia, had cleared all the company’s dues to Tizi Ouzou inhabitants by virtue of the protocol agreement he had concluded with Laarouch coordination (citizen movement of Kabylie region).

From another side, Sonelgaz has unveiled that the debts of low tension consumers have exceeded 27 billion dinars, over 15 billion centimes are debts of the municipalities and different public departments, besides more than 21 billion centimes are industrialists’ debts.

According to Sonelgaz company officials, water sector and “L’Algerienne des Eaux” are in the front list of the heavily in debt clients with more than 10 billion centimes. Sonelgaz owes the various security departments heavy dues; the military sector for instance is in debt of 1.5 billion centimes, whereas Gendarmerie and Police services are each of them in debt of 2 billion centimes.
