A strange decision and a shaky start for Belkhadem A strange decision and a shaky start for Belkhadem

Government previous ministers being kept
Saturday May 27 2006.

The difference between political parties, concerning the previous ministers being kept by the new president of government, wasn’t that big.

The Movement of the Society for Peace (MSP) considered what happened as a shaky start from Belkhadem. El Islah sees that the changing touched the top of the government without spreading to policies.

The national front for liberation defended this choice and considered it as time saving and avoidance of the preparation of new governmental programme that would be presented for discussions in front the parliament.

The deputy of the MSP, Abdelmajid Menasha, in a declaration to El Khabar, that his party was expecting a change in the government ministers, “and that is what was understood from immediate declarations after his designation”, but what happened, “and this is not new thing in Algeria”, Menasra added, the old ministers were kept, and MSP wasn’t consulted and wasn’t a part of this decision.

On his part, the chief of the parliamentary group of the movement, Abdemhak Bouchra, confirmed that everyone was waiting a radical change, taking in consideration that Ouyahia government has failed in many things because of its entrance in a routine performance without being creative or making initiatives with procedures that can ease citizens, but the thing that happened the old became new except the top of the government”, the thing that was considered by Boumechra a shaky start for Belkhadem” and the reform using the old wouldn’t go that far, adding that Belkhadem had intentions in reforms according to his first declarations but” a from-the-top orders forced him to keep the old team”.

On its part, El Islah movement considered that was happened was the top changing and not the government, and wished, through the national bureau member charged with organisation, Lakhdar Benkhellef, that the reforms comprised policies too, taking in consideration the failure of the presidential coalition government, according to him, in its missions and its ignoring of its social duty towards the citizen. Benkhellef sees that the new government with its old team and even with its short period of existence was expected to deal with four heavy dossiers which are the constitutions alteration, consultative elections, the fast making in practice of the bills of the chart for national peace and reconciliation “after the removal of the one who was hampering it”, and to push the wheel of the national economy.

The leader of the Labour Party, Louisa Hanoune, showed her astonishment, yesterday, as she presided over the cloture of the normal session of her party national assembly in Zeralda, at what she called “the change of the president of government only” and said that her party is waiting for clarifications because in the current government, according to her, ministers practice procedure in an isolated way and were concerned to please foreign dictations and will preserve the same policies.
