Hydraulic resources Minister Mr. Abdelmalek Sellal took stock yesterday in his visit to Tebessa of water supply rates still suffering from shortages, a citizens are waiting for the delivery of Safsaf dam project seen as the definite solution to their long-lasting sufferings.




Safsaf dam project, 60 kilometres southern Tebessa Wilaya is considered as one of the most important and strategic projects, with a 20-million cubic metres capacity. This facility is likely to raise drinking water supply rates which are provided 1/3 days in its best, regardless the bad quality of water.

Mr. Abdelmalek Sellal took stock of technical problems contributing to the delay of the project delivery, to which the state allocated 335 billion centimes. Realization works are entrusted to Cosider and the project is to be delivered by June 2008. Moreover, the minister gave instructions to the realization company meant to deliver the project eight months at the latest so as to provide citizens with water supplies.

On another side, Mr. Sellal considers that irrigation sector has realised a quantum leap in recent years, as hydraulic linking rates raised to 96% which is the case for drinking water supplies.
