While employment and solidarity minister Mr. Djamel Ould Abbès underscored unemployment rates decrease in Algeria, not exceeding 12.5%, the former German minister in charge of economy Clause Benger stated that unemployment rates in Algeria is still at higher rates as it approaches 30% only among youth recent years.

The former German minister statements stress the non-credible character of Algerian authorities’ figures contradicting the statements of international organizations, as unemployment rates in Algeria calculation take into account non-permanent work contracts which are not permanent jobs.

In his exposé on the Algerian economic situation, during the debate held yesterday at Algeria Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Clause Benger tackled weak points that hider national economic revival despite the breakthroughs recorded recent years.

According to the German official, Algeria has to catch up the delay in the field of direct foreign investments with the EU, and further called to keep on freeing the Algerian market by reducing national products protection.
