Tourism department gives 142 concessions to exploit 313 beaches

The ministry of Tourism has recently closed 126 hotels, equivalent to 11% of overall number of hotels in Algeria, for lack of security and hygiene, whereas the remaining 68% still have not been classified yet.




In this context, both “Sheraton” and “Sofitel” hotels have recently submitted their files to the National Commission for Hotels Classifications, so as to launch a study on the two hotels to see weather are in compliance with the international standards. The commission, by the way, will soon organize its third session, which would be devoted to treat the files of all the five stars hotels in Algeria.

The manager of control of tourist activities at the ministry told “El Khabar” that the work done by the inspection teams in collaboration with hotels classification commission has enabled closing 126 hotels for lack of hygiene and absence of security conditions for customers. The same operation has allowed the reopening of nine hotels had been closed down earlier for the same reasons.

On the other hand, Mr.Bouchdjdirah revealed that the ministry gave this year, 142 concessions to exploit 313 beaches for a period of five years, based on a new book of specifications, by the current summer season. This process would exclude the beaches of Algiers because the scheme of coast is not ready, which means that access to the beaches of this Wilaya would be for free this year, said Mr. Bouchdjidira
