The German Lurgi negotiates plastics factory setting up with Sonatrach

Three Algerian-German projects to be launched

The Algerian general manager of the chamber of commerce and the Algerian-German industry, Mr Andreas Reuter revealed yesterday that there will be soon three projects of Algerian-German partnership which would be declared by the next few days

indicating that there would be projects which concern sectors in petrochemistry, construction and transport.

The president of the foreign trade and international fairs service Mr Olives Homes has declared, in the visit which has been organized in the stand of German companies participating in the 40th edition of the Algerian international fair, that the German company “Lurgi” had proposed to the Algerian authorities an important project of about 2.2 billion dollars to build plastics factory in Arziew, awaiting the decision of Sonatrach about it.

On another side, Germany industry and commerce chamber pointed out that German companies are interested in investing in Algeria yet the impediments remain reforms implementation dithering.

To recall, Germany exports towards Algeria reached last year 1.5 billion dollars mainly from car sector for 1.2 billion euros imports mainly oil products. German investments outside oil sector reached 400 million dollars while German companies based in Algeria number reached 140 companies.
